What does the SymplCare Marketplace do?
The SymplCare Marketplace is a completely different approach to the healthcare supply chain. It is an open marketplace for patients seeking non-emergency elective procedures. The marketplace is exclusively available to self-funded employer plan sponsors, as a service to their employees. Members who schedule their procedure through the SymplCare Marketplace earn the incentive of $0 patient responsibility.

How does the Marketplace work?
Care providers (surgeons, imaging centers, and facilities) submit pricing for a common episode of care, we call that a bundle. This pricing is compared to current health insurance network net cost, and if competitive we add the provider’s bundle to our database. Typically, our bundles are 25-40% below network reimbursement net costs. Each provider must provide credentialing information including things like readmission and infection rates. Each provider is also asked to disclose how many procedures they have performed.
When a patient is recommended to have a procedure, they contact our concierge team, who confirms the procedure, searches the marketplace, and presents the patient’s $0 cost options (like a personal shopper). When selected, the Sympl team schedules the appointment with the care giver. We pay the provider within 21 days, on behalf of the health plan, and the patient recovers without any medical bills. Often times paying the provider the day of service, that’s right, day of service. Providers are not tasked to chase down the patient for deductible or coinsurance, we handle all of it.
